Change on Rules of Entry
The major change to the rules of entry this year are that the ‘no identifying marks’ rule has been dropped. This means that you do not have to make any special changes to your productions prior to entry – which we hope will result in more members entering the awards.

The categories include: -

Best Corporate Video
This category is to celebrate the very best in corporate video communications. This includes; Training Videos, Promotional Videos and Business Information Videos. Judges will be looking for productions that demonstrate video as an effective communications tool.

Best Documentary
This category will reward the best in videos made for entertainment and public consumption. This includes; Special Interest Videos, Local History Films, Documentaries and all productions produced for public exhibition. Judges will be looking for entertaining, informative and original programmes.

Best Wedding Video
This category will showcase the best in wedding videography, to include ceremonies of all faiths or none. Specially abbreviated competition edits are welcome, as are original customer copies. Judges will be looking for originality and productions of an exceptional standard.

Best Short Film
This category has been introduced to reflect the growing number of short-form dramas and films being produced on video. There are no rules as to the subject matter.

Best Open
The Open category gives you the chance to submit any other kind of programme you like, which is not covered in the other sections, and it will be judged purely on its own merits. That might be a music video, or indeed a Showreel, a television advertisement or something completely different. The choice is yours.

The IOV Awards Ceremony – a completely new format!
Taking place in the E.ON Lounge at the Ricoh Arena, the 2008 IOV Awards will be a more relaxed, informal and convivial affair open to members, exhibition delegates and exhibitors alike. With the reception party starting shortly after the doors of the IOV’s trade exhibition close on the 15th October, attendees will simply take a very short escalator ride to the spacious and welcoming E.ON Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Ricoh Arena.

The awards reception (from 5.30pm) will include a free drink and food, and whilst you mingle and network with up to 300 industry professionals, there will be an array of display pods around the room showcasing extended highlights of the top-5 entries in each of the categories.

With the usual impressive stage and set, the formal presentation of the awards will start at 6.30pm in a theatre-style setting and will conclude around 7.30pm. This will enable trade show visitors to attend the awards and still leave sufficient time to travel home after. Tickets for the awards can be purchased online now by clicking here.

  Ricoh Arena
Isle Casino2   However, the event will not end there! Another short ride back down the escalator attendees will benefit from free entrance to the Isle Casino located on the basement floor of the Ricoh Arena (photo ID will be required). As well as exceptional gaming facilities, the Isle is the UK’s largest casino and boasts five bars, a live performance stage and three restaurants in an exotic tropical themed environment with a spectacular 35 metre in-door waterfall, designed as much for visitors who don’t want to gamble as those who do.

The casino closes at 5am, so there will be plenty of time for networking. The IOV also has a limited number of rooms reserved on the night of 15th in the boutique hotel within the Ricoh Arena. So, visitors can come to the exhibition, take in the awards, join the party in the casino – and then simply take the lift to their suite on the upper floors. We also have an allocation of rooms at the nearby Novotel Hotel (within a mile of the Ricoh Arena).
